Joan Ruth Stoehr Taber

Joan Ruth Stoehr Taber was born on August 4, 1926 in Marietta, Ohio to H. Floyd Stoehr and Ruth Steen Stoehr. She died Sunday, December 10, 2017, at 5:14 a.m. Marietta Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by one daughter, Patricia (Allan) Bosch; three grandchildren, Bryan, Ethan (Karen), and Barbara Bosch; and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald, and sister, Mary.

Joan was a member of the First Baptist Church, Marietta for 78 years, and also a member of the Adult Fellowship class. She graduated from Marietta High School in 1944. Prior to her marriage in 1949, she was employed as a bookkeeper at WMOA Radio. Joan studied piano for seven years with Mrs. S.W. Stout, and enjoyed playing the piano at the Women’s Home in Marietta. She was a self-taught artist depicting dogs and exotic wildlife. She was affiliated with numerous humanitarian and environmental organizations, and loved all animals, with puppies and dogs at the top of the list. Her precious pets were always by her side, including her dearest companions over a span of 30 years, Heidi, Tansy, Pretty Toe-Toe, Little Lassie, and Amber.
