James Byron Malcolm
James Byron Malcolm, 86, of Whipple, OH passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 14, 1931 in Cleveland, OH to the late Howard and Fern Wright Malcolm.
Jim graduated from Lincoln High School in Cleveland, OH in 1949. He was a member of Gilman United Methodist Church. He was a 50-year Mason and 50- year member of all York Rite bodies, being a member of American Union Lodge #1 F&AM where he was a Past Master, Aurelius Lodge #308 F&AM where he was Treasurer, he was Excellent High Priest in 1970 of American Union Chapter #1 RAM, he was Illustrious Master in 1968 of Marietta Council #78 R&SM, he was Eminent Commander in 1967 of Marietta Commandery #50, Ohio Priory #18 Knights York Cross of Honour, he was a Past Sovereign Master of America Union Council #445 Allied Masonic Degrees, he was a Past Excellent Chief of Donegal Council #94, Knight Masons of USA, Nemesis Shrine, Marietta Shrine Club, Marietta Order of Eastern Star #59, White Shrine of Jerusalem #12, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge and St. Thomas of Acon American Union #16. He was also an Eagle Scout and was active with Boy Scouts as Scout Master, being a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Kathary Reich Malcolm of Whipple; three sons, Keith Malcolm (Kim) of Circleville, OH, Lawrence Malcolm (Betty) of Marietta, OH and Brian Malcolm (Bettina) of Jacksonville, NC; a daughter, Dawn Malcolm Kuiper (Danny) of Port Charlotte, FL; grandchildren, Joshua Malcolm, Sheri Whaley, Sydnia Petersen, Mallory Entsminger, Kasey Malcolm, Chelesa Malcolm, Devlin Malcolm, Aurora Malcolm, Rylan Malcolm; great grandchildren, LJ, Lucas, Jacob, and Noah Whaley, Claire Malcolm, Nathan Bunner, Lexie Petersen, Julian and Aksel Entsminger and two brothers, William and David Malcolm.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Moran Malcolm and two brothers, Robert and Thomas Malcolm.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., Marietta, OH with Rev. Diann O’Bryant officiating. Entombment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the funeral home, where a Masonic Service will be held at 8 P.M.
