Charles Norman Price Jr.
It is with saddest regret that we announce the death of U.S. Army Retired Master Sergeant Charles Norman Price Jr. on September 3rd, 2018 at his home in Belpre, OH. He was surrounded by his family as he passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Norman age 85, was born in Fredricktown, OH on October 20, 1932, the son of the late Charles Norman Price Sr. and Ethel Glenn Price. He lived and attended school in Mt Vernon, OH. He is preceded in death by his brother Jack E. Price and his cousin Patsy Riggleman.
Norman was a proud U.S. Army Veteran serving his country from 1947 to 1975. He served in Combat Engineer Units in Guam, Korea, Japan, France, Germany and Vietnam.
Throughout his military career he was honored to have earned countless medals including:
Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense with Oak Leaf Medal, Korean Service Metal with Battle Star, United Nation Service Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal.
After retiring from the Army, Norman went to Washington Technical College and at the age of 50 he earned an Associates Degree in Business Management. He went on to work for 14 years as the Veterans Employment Rep for the Ohio Bureau of Employment in Marietta, OH.
He was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars where he served as a Post and Cooties Commander for Post #5108 (Marietta) and a Service Officer for 7 years for District #5 (Dept. of Ohio) and a Legislative Officer for 7 years. He was also a Life Member of the DAV #6 , American Legion #15 and AMVETS #34. Norman served as a Master Mason of the Blue Lodge for Lodge #609. He served 18 years as a drummer with the street unit for the York Rite Nemesis Shrine Temple, and a Vice President and President for District #9 of the Washington County Veterans Commission.
Norman will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years Joyce (Butcher) Price and his children, Gayle Roush (Vernon), Sally Buck (Mike), Judy Cornell (Andy), Daniel Price (Monique) Jennifer Wriston (Lee) and grand children: Matt (Sarah) Roush, Molly (Ashton) Kennedy, Jeremy Carpenter, Janette (Rick) Hart, Brian Buck, Ashley (Wayne) Brown, Katelyn (Scott) Cole, Kevin (Hannah) Cox, Becky Cox, Susan (Travis) Turner, Stephanie (Josh) Schofield, Amber (Jason) Haught, Mandy (Sean) DeMent, Dayna Fisher, Wesley Bunner, Zach Wriston, Shane Tate and 28 Great Grandchildren. He was a member of Rockland United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 7th, 2018 at Hadley Funeral Home in Reno, OH with Pastor Rick Bourne officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park in Reno, OH with full Military Honors. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, September 6th, 2018 and again from 1 PM until time of service on Friday.
