David LeRoy Edwards

It is with great sadness that the family of David LeRoy Edwards announces his passing at the age of 66. He passed away on Dec. 11, 2018 at the home where he resided with his significant other, Tina Warfield, and her sons, Jared and Jack Warfield. David bravely fought a three year battle with cancer and passed peacefully with Tina by his side.

David was born in Alton, Ill. with Belleville, Ill. being his hometown. He earned a Master’s Degree from Eastern Illinois University and had recently retired from Washington State Community College where he was a Professor of Mathematics. He was passionate about education and life-long learning. He loved the great outdoors, gardening, hiking, kayaking and camping.

David is survived by the following family members: brother, Daniel Edwards with wife Sarah Swett; sister, Donna Reifschneider (Edwards) with husband James; sister, Debra Edwards with husband Stephen Perkins; nieces and nephews, Henry Edwards, Jennifer and Matthew LaFontaine (Reifschneider), Aaron Reifschneider, Julie Reifschneider, Ryan and Debra Reifschneider, Paul and Ranae Perkins, and Sarah Perkins. David was preceded in death by his parents, William LeRoy and Dolores Ann Woker Edwards, and sister, Diane Stentz (Edwards).

A special note of thanks to his close friend, Mickey Kessler, for showing such tremendous support, to Tina’s sister, Brenda Kay Hall, for the gift of her time, and to the Marietta Home Health and Hospice team for taking such good care of Dave as his health declined.

Dave’s wishes were to be cremated, and at his request, there will not be a viewing or a service. Instead, we will have a Celebration of Life Open House at the residence in Vincent, Ohio, this Sunday, Dec. 16 between the hours of 1 – 4 pm. Online condolences may be sent at www.leavittfuneralhome.com.
