Daniel Parks

Daniel “Boogie” Parks, 72, of the Riverhood passed away Friday March 8, 2019 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, with his sons by his side. Steadfast in his desire for peace and happiness, he has found his way to heaven, where his eternal party will never end.

Dan attended Marietta High School. After high school, Dan enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves, where he proudly served his country. He was a retired member of the DC53 Union Painters local 1144, where he spent most of his career as a superintendent at the Dupont Washington Works site. Dan was also a member of the American Legion. In his 17 years of retirement, Dan enjoyed spending time with his friends and family along the banks of the Muskingum River.

Dan is survived by Charlotte Parks (Al Young), whom he married in 1975, and together shared a remarkable bond for over 45 years. Dan is also survived by his beloved sons, Todd (Shawndra), Bill (Traci), and Jonathan. As well, he is survived by his brothers, Jim (Pat) and Mike (Evelyn). His grandchildren Juliana, Camryn and Vinnie and several nieces and nephews. In addition, he is survived and celebrated by his extended muskingum riverhood family.

Dan was preceded in death by his first born son, Jeffrey Allen Parks, his mother and father, Mary and Leonard Parks, his brother Deane Parks, and sisters Wanda Haney, Judy Snyder, Bonnie Parks. Dan is also preceded in death by his best friend Jim Martin.

Dan Parks was an ageless man who carried many different names throughout his life; dad, brother, husband, grandfather, uncle, neighbor, friend, silver fox, and the legendary boogie – all of which were rightfully earned by his extraordinary kind soul. If you were blessed to have crossed paths with him, you were rewarded with a warm grin and a raspy-voiced conversation for as long as you could spare the time. Dan was never a pessimist and always found the answers to life’s issues by binding a genuine warm kindness, a never failing sense of humor, and at least one cold beer. Dan will be remembered as the one guy you were always happy to see.

The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of Riverside Methodist Hospital for the love and care they received during his final days.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St. Marietta OH with Travis Taylor officiating.
