Get involved as a Marietta recycling center helper
We want to encourage anyone with an interest in helping the environment to consider volunteering for work at the Marietta Recycling Center on Gilman Avenue.
The work isn’t glamorous. It involves going through items left at the center and sorting them into plastics and other recyclables.
The work is important because every item sorted at the center doesn’t go into a landfill. That’s huge, especially if you consider that other communities are doing the same thing.
The work force at the center is all volunteers. Some of them are slowing down a bit as time marches on. Lately other volunteers have been ill or on vacation. That’s left the job up to a handful of dedicated workers who deserve the community’s thanks.
Here’s how you can help:
To volunteer – Stop by the center at 915 Gilman Ave. between 3 and 4:30 p.m., when another volunteer is most likely to be there or contact Becky Wright at 373-2132.
To contribute financially – Make checks payable to Marietta Area Recycling Center and place in donation tube at site or mail to Marietta Area Recycling Center, c/o Community Action, 218 Putnam St., Marietta, OH 45750.
We hope you’ll get involved.
