Consider running for public office

Consider this to be your invitation to run for public office in your community. There are spaces available.

The first step is getting your nomination petition signed and into the Board of Elections office on Davis Avenue. Deadline to get on the November ballot is down to a few days (Aug. 5)

The elections board can give you the details on who, what and how many signatures you need to collect.

Tara Hupp, director of the Washington County Board of Elections is the person to check with for all the details.

You can aim high, like running for mayor of Lowell, Macksburg, or New Matamoras. But there are other, less demanding offices in need of a candidate for the November general election.

Give running some serious consideration and think about some issues in your community that could use your energy.

The board office is located at 205 Davis Ave. The board also has a website (washington gov.org). Or you can give them a call at 740-374-6828.

Any organization can profit from fresh ideas, the kind new faces can bring to the table.
