Deja vu for Colegate travelers for a while
Local drivers who regularly travel Colegate Drive knew this was coming. The often bumpy pavement shook drivers and passengers alike.
But now, road construction crews have returned to finish their resurfacing project. Hooray!
In a nutshell, here’s what’s happening:
– Beginning May 4, Fields Excavating, Inc. of Kittsville started working in the vicinity and along Colegate Drive (from Greene Street to Hadley Lane).
– Construction is expected to conclude around May 20, weather permitting.
– Traffic will be reduced to one lane during working hours (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and will be maintained with traffic lights and/or flaggers.
– Those traveling at or near these locations should drive with caution and obey traffic control signs and flagmen at all times.
That’s the key, as it was before. Be patient, avoid the construction zone if at all possible. Stay calm. If you are late for an appointment, Colegate Drive isn’t the place to be. That was true when crews were trying to get the project completed. It’s true now, too.
So stay cool and think of how nice Colegate Drive will be in the future. Weather permitting, that could be May 20. Just don’t hold your breath.
