Don’t forget to vote in Tuesday’s election

We want to encourage you to vote in Tuesday’s primary election.

Where you stand on the issues and candidates is up to you. But taking the time to go to the polls and vote is our right as responsible citizens.

Voter participation in primary elections usually is low. Understandably, interest is low since the offices and issues at stake pale in comparison to those in many general elections. There’s no Tump vs. Clinton contest to rivet interest and draw voters.

But if you live in Marietta there’s a proposed income tax increase on the ballot.

Among items on the ballot are three tax levies for fire and emergency services in Marietta Township to be decided. There’s a similar tax question in Newport Township.

Meanwhile, voters in the Warren Local School District face a decision that could spark a major construction project in the western Washington County area.

Polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. If you are unsure about where to vote we urge you to check the board of elections Web site. Then, be ready to do your civic duty and vote.
