Household Hazardous Waste Day offers free collection

Don’t miss your chance to participate in the area’s annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day, going on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Solvay Employee Park.

This event allows for the proper disposal of a variety of household items including insecticides, fertilizer, household cleaners, transmission fluid, car batteries, fluorescent light tubes and bulbs, propane cylinders and much more. There will also be a paint swap. All of this at no charge.

Keep in mind there are some items that won’t be accepted, such as ammunition, fireworks, pressurized fire extinguishers and flares. Tires are also off limits for this collection.

The event is for residents of the region, specifically Guernsey, Monroe, Muskingum, Noble and Washington Counties and the drop-off location of Solvay Employee Park is located at 11 River Lane, Marietta.

This effort continues to be funded by the South Eastern Ohio Joint Solid Waste Management District, the Washington County Responsible Care Group and Waste Management of W.V.

We urge local residents to take advantage of this convenient, no cost opportunity to properly dispose of household waste that otherwise can be tricky – and costly – to do so.
