Unique Boutique boosts confidence, business

This afternoon and Saturday at the Marietta Township Community Center, local residents who need to find a way to stretch their budgets for work wardrobes can take advantage of the 34th annual Fall Unique Boutique, conducted by the Zonta Club of the Mid-Ohio Valley.

Proceeds from the event benefit EVE, the local domestic violence shelter, and projects such as SOAP — Save Our Adolescents from Prostitution; but the event itself is an incredibly helpful resource for those hoping to put their best foot forward in the office, but without a lot of disposable income to do so.

Clothing may not exactly make the man — or woman — but the right wardrobe could be just the nudge needed to push an employee toward greater confidence and greater success in the workplace.

Of course seasonal clothing for all ages is available at the boutique as well, and none of it is possible without the generous donations from local residents who hope to give someone else a hand up.

“The same people generously donated all the time, and we get a lot of people whose family members have passed away that had good quality clothes bring whole wardrobes by,” said Sharon Coffman, service chairwoman for Zonta.

Thank you, folks. Our community is fortunate to have both those willing to give and those willing to organize such efforts.
