Communities came together for toys program

This past year has been a year of up and downs, troubling news of the state of our economy, of our armed forces fighting a never ending conflict and many people out of work. But that didn’t stop the communities of Beverly, Center and Waterford from coming together to help those in need with donations of money, food, and gifts for the Toys for Children Program.

Fifty two families were given food boxes containing nonperishable foods, ham, potatoes, oranges, bread, butter, and a bag of candy. Two gifts were purchased and wrapped for each of 123 children in the program this year. The gifts were placed in a bag for each family and given to a family member along with the overflowing food boxes and best wishes for a Merry Christmas. In addition there were extra toys and games as well as canned food that the families could choose from.

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 389 members are the caretakers of this wonderful program and the following list of donors are what makes it all possible. We wish to thank every donor and also the many donors of the gifts placed in the collection tubs. We are proud to live in such a caring community.
