Frontier alumni classes appreciate support

On March 9, the Frontier Alumni classes of 1969 to 1985 held their second annual pancake breakfast at the Newport Elementary School. What a great day we had serving up pancakes and sausages to everyone who came to support our fundraiser! This year, scrambled eggs were added; please note that sausage gravy and biscuits were being discussed for 2014. There are so many involved with our breakfast, it would be hard to mention everyone individually. That being said, if you donated, advertised, helped work the breakfast, or came and ate the breakfast; we’d like to give a big shout out of thanks to everyone!

Scholarship guidelines and applications are now available at Frontier High School, Washington County Career Center, and Washington State Community College. Please contact the guidance department at FHS for your application. Two $500 scholarships will be awarded again this year, with the deadline to apply being April 13.

We are holding a golf scramble at Pioneer Golf Course in Marietta on May 4. The scramble was open to the first 18 teams who signed up. All 18 holes have been filled, however we do have a waiting list in case of cancellations. We place personalized signs at designated holes throughout the golf course. Anyone wanting to advertise their business, or any individual interested in sponsoring a hole please contact me. We’re hoping for good weather. If you’re in the area, please stop out and visit with us awhile.

The 2013 third annual class reunion for classes 1969 to 1985 will be held in June on the 14th and 15th. Both evenings will be held at the Comfort Inn, Pike Street, Marietta, in the grand ballroom, starting at 6 p.m. Reservation forms have been mailed out and emails have been sent. If you are alumni from 1969 to 1985 and have not yet received a form, please get ahold me or one of the committee members to get your form.

With the fundraisers that we have held, we have issued two $500 scholarships, bought a gymnasium floor mat for FHS, and installed lighting to the FHS senior/middle school sign in the front yard. Currently, we are in the process of replacing the cougar mascot for the cheerleading squad.

Any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me and thanks again for your support with the pancake breakfast!
