Fur Ball raised $22,000; Humane Society says thanks for the support

The Humane Society of the Ohio Valley would like to thank everyone for making our 10th annual “Fur Ball” dance and auction a huge success. This year we raised $22,000 for the shelter, which will be used for general operations and medical treatment for our animals. A very special thanks to all members of the American Legion Post 159 in Williamstown, local newspapers, WTAP-TV and the band Hit Parade for all the “buzz” you created on Facebook to help make this our biggest event ever.

We would also like to thank the local business and individuals that made monetary donations or donated items for the silent and live auctions. We would especially like to thank Apex/True Value for supplying the wheelbarrow for the live auction that raised $500 and the members that supplied the contents and the vendors that supplied the certificates for the tree that yielded $1,000, Bruce Weber for the handmade hobby horse and all his endless time and effort, Rick Gorham for his antler lamp and his creativity donated for the live auction, Carolyn Carr for the Ameilia Island trip that was donated, Trudy Mendenhall for donating her handpainted Fenton vase, Rick Butler for the corn hole game and Foye Manual with his unique handcrafted birdhouse that helped make our grand total “Over The Top” of our expectations!

We would like to thank the businesses that sold our raffle tickets; Norwood Tavern, Wrangler Tavern, Beachcomber in Williamstown, The Station Carry-out, American Legion Post 159 and Putnam Chocolates for selling both raffle and admission tickets.

And, of course, the Fur Ball committee, which without there help this event could have never happened: Lisa Merrow, chairperson, Carol Lindamood, Mickey Stevens, and Tabby Carpenter, our marvelous decorators, Autumn Beck, Trudy Mendenhall, Janie Snell, and Carol McKitrick for making the beautiful baskets for the silent auction. For Rhonda Deem, Jodi Morrison, Connie Hoblitzell and Juanita Becker for working the door, Seig Shrader, Penny Givens, and Barbie Stone for working the silent auction, Dean Parks from Parks Appraisals for our live auction, Jim Baldinger for selling the raffle tickets. Thanks to Jeff Meeks, Dave Flowers, Jeremy Flowers, Randy Williams and the bar tenders, Marie and Juanita, for keeping all the thirsty people “happy,” Candy Nelson and Roger Fulton for door prizes. A special thanks also goes to Gravie Givens, and to Becky Johnston for selling 50/50 tickets and to Ron Brooker that donated his half of the 50/50 back to the shelter, what a great guy! For Lucy and Dick Scott and Louise and Ron Holmes for their generous monetary donation, and an animous donor that gave a $2000 check.

The winners of the HSOV raffle tickets were as follows: Brandon Gibbs, Tamara Dye, Becky Woodby, Deanna Bush and Leroy Morey.

Thanks to all the silent and live auction winners, we couldn’t do it without your support!

Thanks again to everyone that made this event the best it has ever been! We look forward to your participation next year.
