Browns Backer’s benefit a success in many ways

On Saturday evening April 20, the River Rats Browns Backers held a benefit to aid the family of our dear friend, Sandy Heinlein. Sandy was a charter member of our club, a 20-year member and had served as a club officer for 15 years. Sandy lost her short battle with cancer about a week before the event took place.

We would like to thank the American Legion Post 64 and their staff for their assistance and hospitality. We would like to thank the band Old School who donated their time and put on a great show. Thanks to auctioneer Ed Williams and wife, Angie for the donation of their time and services during a very entertaining live auction. Well over 50 local individuals and businesses donated to the benefit. Without their generosity the event would not have been possible. The kindness of so many is what makes the Marietta area a special place to call home.

Through the efforts of all the folks mentioned above and the hard work of many members of the River Rats we had a great evening remembering Sandy. At the end of the evening we were able to cover the cost of the funeral service and apply some funds toward a gravestone. Thanks again to all who helped make it possible.
