Belpre’s intent is clear in raising school money
I have lived in Belpre, Ohio for the last 14 years. I have supported all of the levies long needed to repair our schools and support our students. Each one failed. I think the Wood County Schools Continuing Levy should be passed in W. Va. However, I believe the disclosure in the Parkersburg News and Sentinel on how the funds will be used has dampened many people’s support of this important issue. The levy is approximately $16 million . Almost one million dollars ($800,000) of the levy is going to be used for employee dental care. Not “For Excellent Schools.” I have heard various people in Parkersburg comment about this issue and I think it could contribute to a levy failure. Unlike Wood County, Belpre intended to use their levy moneies to repair crumbling school buildings.
