Letter writer offers thanks, spanks to community
Thanks: To the Marietta Civitan Club for decorating Cisler Park. It is beautiful.
Thanks: To Marietta Rotary for the holiday light display at Greene and Pike streets.
Thanks: To Marietta Main Street for the candy cane and holiday flag installation.
Thanks: To Peoples Bank for the animated window displays – so enjoyable.
Thanks: To Barking Dog Bookstore for another wonderful window exhibit.
Thanks: To everyone who decorated the trees at the armory and county courthouse.
Thanks: To Marietta in Bloom for beautifying the entrances of our city.
Thanks: To Marietta College and St. Mary Church for hosting the performance of Handel’s Messiah again.
Spanks: To the person or persons who canceled the Christmas tree lighting ceremony (scheduled for Dec. 6), but neglected to remind everyone that the local businesses would remain open.
Spanks: To those city officials who don’t believe we need enforcement of property maintenance codes. Obviously they haven’t noticed or have ignored the hundreds of properties suffering from decades of deferred maintenance and neglect to the point where many structures are unsafe, ugly and candidates for razing!
Spanks: To all litterbugs who are too lazy to use a trash receptacle!
