Frontier Alumni group appreciates support

The Frontier High School Alumni Association classes 1969 to 1989 recently held its first annual basketball tournament.

Fifteen teams of both men and women played in the double elimination tournament that was held the weekend of March 7, 8, and 9 in the Hank Morus gymnasium at the Frontier High School. Team sport programs, coaches, alumni, and many others worked the tournament. Monies raised will be split among the sport programs who helped run the tournament and the Alumni Association. The Alumni Association would like to thank each and every person who came to watch the games, bought concessions, prepared food for concessions, the parents of the students who helped throughout the weekend, the students who worked, coaches, alumni, those that advertised for us, anyone who donated towards the tournament, or helped work. With all of our combined efforts, our first of many tournaments to come was a huge success.

If you have a senior at FHS in the 2013-2014 school year, please have them check with the school guidance department. There are current scholarship guidelines and applications available. Please see that your senior has the form filled out and returned to the alumni association by the deadline of April 25.

The alumni association has a few upcoming events scheduled, first would be the third annual pancake breakfast, being held at the Newport Elementary School, on March 22. This year the group is offering pancake, sausage, and eggs, or sausage gravy, biscuits and eggs – your choice for adults $5, and children $3 a drink is included. Please come out and let the FHS alumni serve you breakfast on March 22 from 8 a.m. to noon.

Second, is the third annual golf tournament that will be held on May 3 at the St. Marys Golf Course, in St. Marys, W.Va. All 18 spots have been reserved, but please come over and join us for the day. Hole sponsors are needed and are available for a cost of $100. There will be a sign with every sponsor name at an assigned spot throughout the golf course.

And finally on June 13 and June 14, we will hold our fourth annual class reunion for the classes of 1969 to 1989. The reunion will be held at the Comfort Inn, 700 Pike St., Marietta, inside the grand ballroom. The cost of $38 covers both Friday and Saturday night, and the cost of $10 covers just Friday night. Both evenings start at 6 p.m. Reservation forms will be sent out soon. We do try to send as many via email to save on postage. Please contact a committee member so we can get you a reservation form.
