Kiwanis Pancake Days raises more than $22,000

The Marietta Kiwanis Club would like to thank the community for supporting the 60th annual Pancake Days Feb. 7 and 8. Pancake Days is the club’s largest fundraiser and all the proceeds – over $22,000 – go back into the community. It supports services such as landscaping projects at the middle school and high school, maintenance of Lookout Park, Terrific Kids at Harmar Elementary, picnic shelter by the Marietta College Boathouse, Halloween in the Park, Storybook Park with the Washington County Public Library, and sponsorship of seven local youth clubs or programs ranging from elementary school to college. The club also takes part in bell-ringing for the Salvation Army and placement of historical markers throughout Marietta.

Kiwanis is a service club whose purpose is to promote human and spiritual values, good citizenship, fellowship and altruistic service through voluntary action. Kiwanis meets every Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. at the Gilman United Methodist Church or from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Levee House in Marietta depending on the week. Guests are always welcome.

Thank you to the following for either donations or in some way supporting the event: Finish Line Computers, TGG Brank Marketing + Design Inc., Broughton Foods, Fairfield Inn of Marietta, Richardson Printing, Marietta College Delta Tau Delta, DJ Associates, McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home, Shadix TV Sales & Services, McDonald’s, Food 4 Less, Crystal Spring Water, Marietta Memorial Hospital, Ash-Hanson Flowers & Weddings Innovations, Barlow VFD, First Congregational Church, WMOA, The Anchor, Marietta Times, WTAP, Clear Channel, TV22, TV15, Vogue-Swift and Peoples News.

The success of this annual event would not be possible without the continued support of the Kiwanis members, volunteers, basket and raffle donors, and a benevolent and hungry community.
