Huge show of support for Relay For Life
On behalf of the American Cancer Society, Relay For Life, I would like to extend my appreciation to the residents of Washington County for their generosity and support. Over 60 teams participated in this year’s event, raising more than $150,000 for the American Cancer Society’s research, education, advocacy, and service programs.
The outstanding support received proves that the people of Washington County are truly committed to the fight against cancer. And the fight is not over! Contributions still may be donated for the 2014 campaign by Aug. 31. Simply by calling the American Cancer Society, 1-800-227-2345, or visit relayforlife.org (Washington County, Belpre Ohio).
I want to applaud the survivors and caregivers that participated in the opening lap and the survivor recognition. They are the reason we continue the fight, because each year there can be more and more people living wonderful lives following a diagnosis of cancer and celebrating more birthdays.
A special thanks goes to the many Relay For Life volunteers who worked to make this event a success. The Relay For Life committee did an outstanding job of putting the event together. Of course, our many individuals that donated their time to help: The Belpre Volunteer Fire Department, Boy Scout Troop 207, Post 64 color guard, Fort Frye marching band, Clyde Huddleston (Campers), Wagner Martial Arts, Jennifer Simmons, Miranda Duty, McLeish Auctioneers, Cory Lewis, Robin and Brian Brandjes, Lynne Zoller, Sandi Venham, Kathy Schwendeman, Aaron Winters, ParMar girls and all of our entertainers.
We also appreciate the generosity of this year’s sponsors. Relay For Life would not be possible without them. Our sponsors included City of Belpre, Strecker Cancer Center, AEP Muskingum River Plant, American Legion Post 64, Cowboy Concessions, Little Caesars Pizza, Peoples Bank, Par Mar Stores, Marietta Moose #1823 & W.O.T.M #1363, GBS Productions, 93.R, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Haas Septic, McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home, Bridgeport Equipment, DXP Enterprises, Solvay Specialty Polymers, Franklin Sign Machines, United Rentals, Wendy’s, GWB Sales Inc., Marietta Times, Smith Concrete, Cash Pal, General Graphics, Broughton Foods, Goddard-Shawd Insurance, Wesley Nida D.D.S., J & J Refuse, J D Byrider, Kalypso Twistz, Kiwanis Club of Marietta, Marietta Transfer, Triad Hunter, Trademark Solutions, Premier Printing, MKB Rentals, McAlarney Pools, Spas & Billiards, Heiss Plumbing & Electric, American Legion Family Post #389, Subway Marietta and Belpre, Walgreens, Marietta Civitan Club, Pioneer Ladies Civitan, Waterford FFA, WMOA, WesBanco, Settlers Bank, Lowe’s of Marietta, Green Valley Co-op, Cars Are Us, Cawley & Peoples Funeral Homes, Glenwood Retirement Community, Citizens Bank, Cincinnati Reds, Washington State Community College, A-Z Learning Supplies, Pizza Hut-Belpre, Belpre Holiday Lights, Giant Eagle, McDonald’s-Belpre, McDonalds-Marietta.
