Work on brick sidewalk was rewarding
I wanted to share with you the wonderful experience we had Saturday, July 19 restoring the brick sidewalk on Fourth Street at Camp Tupper.
When we started in the drizzle it was Councilman Roger Kalter and me, then within minutes, Kim McMichael from Layman, Chris and Dennis Cavalier from Fleming, neighbor and tree commission member Ken Morrison and Mariettan Dawn Wittenberg appeared and started digging and digging the dirt and sod from the covered sidewalk. My son Casey Cline and his girlfriend Kim volunteered to help also spraying the stubborn weeds with spray.
The volunteers rolled load after load of dirt with wheel barrows into trailers provided by neighbors Darrell and Debra Prim and Jim and Sylvia Caporale from Devola. Neighborhood residents Tyson, Nathaniel and Brandon jumped in as well as other volunteers continuing to clear our beautiful brick sidewalk all the way to Warren Street. Can you believe that folks would come together and work to make our city more beautiful. There were even kids pitching in to help and even asked when we were going to do it again.
I think everyone had fun and hopefully the sidewalks will continue to look better when they are finished. The sidewalks are almost a work of art to see them. It is going to be beautiful. Thanks everyone involved for their help.
