Saying ‘war on coal’ is a meaningless expression

Regarding the Aug. 1 editorial: “Voice your opinion to EPA about war on coal.” I have done so, multiple times, and am fully in support of the EPA’s good works in preserving clean air and water for our descendants.

I will take a moment, however, to voice my opinion on your headline. “The war on coal” is a Fox News trope with no meaning. There is no war on coal. If there were a war, the only people dying would be miners, their families and anyone living downwind from coal-burning facilities. Coal companies put all our lives, and the lives of our descendants, at risk in their drive to accumulate as much profit as possible in the shortest time possible.
