Festival a great success, thanks to volunteers

Thank you and congratulations to Ryan Smith, Hallie Taylor and all of their incredible volunteers who created a wonderful 4th annual Rivers, Trails and Ales Festival.

This creative and visionary festival is growing and drawing more and more area residents and folks from across the country. The diversity and variety of events welcomes people of all ages and abilities. The only requirement, an interest in our great outdoors.

Smith and Taylor are two of Marietta’s treasures. Both Mariettans left for a number of years, but returned with a love and energy for our historic and beautiful community.

They both work tirelessly for our community, and we need them. With Earth Mother Marilyn Ortt’s passing, it is critical for the community’s quality of life that new generations step up to fill her shoes. And they are huge shoes.

Fortunately, Ryan Smith, Hallie Taylor and a number of their 30-something friends are unselfishly stepping up to continue in the path of Ortt’s visionary efforts.

I can’t wait for the 5th annual Rivers, Trails and Ales Festival. Thank you, Smith, Taylor and other volunteers. There are many.
