Thank you to the Beverly-Waterford Community

When I was a teenager, I wanted nothing more than to leave my tiny village in search of the big city and all the opportunities I envisioned came with that life. Then I found myself married with my first born, yearning to be in a community I was proud to call home for myself and my children, the same community I was so quick to leave ten years earlier.

Just nine months ago, the Beverly-Waterford Community was facing the reality that they wouldn’t have a pool for the first time in fifty years. So in turn, that same community rallied, they lobbied, they labored, and they created. All so their beloved community staple would not ever know what it meant to sit vacant. And it didn’t. The Beverly-Waterford Community Pool had the most successful season to date, profiting nearly $6,000 once the books closed; a prime example of a public-private partnership being formed, shaped, and molded in the best interest of the community. Businesses, foundations, county agencies, not-for-profits, the municipality and lots and lots of individuals all rallied and worked together.

This week, the Beverly-Waterford Community showed yet again that a pool sitting humbly along State Route 60 means more than words can explain to this little town with a big welcome. The inaugural 12 Days of Christmas raffle raised nearly $9,500! That hope of future generations experiencing what it means to have a small community pool seems so much more bright today.

During this holiday season when so many of us are counting our blessings, I know others are joining me when I say my community is on my short list! Thank you!
