Zonta Club appreciates public’s support

The Zonta Club of Marietta would like to thank the community for all of their support of our recent Unique Boutique Clothing Sale on Nov. 4 and 5. This is our largest fundraiser that we hold bi-annually and all of the proceeds go to scholarships for female non-traditional students to further their education. We provide scholarships yearly to Washington State Community College students and this year will be also giving to the Washington County Career Center.

Zonta is an International Organization of professionals empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy. Zontians are leaders that are active in their communities to initiate and develop service projects in response to community needs that are designed to empower women.

The Zonta Club of Marietta along with the above scholarships also awards The Woman of the Year annually to an outstanding female in Washington County whose exceptional, dedicated volunteer service to the community over the years has enhanced the lives of others. The Young Women in Public Affairs Scholarship is presented yearly to a woman age 16 to 19 who demonstrates commitment to leadership in public policy, government, and volunteer organizations. Lastly, the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship is presented yearly to a woman undertaking business studies who has demonstrated outstanding potential in the field. Both of these scholarships are awarded $500 locally and forwarded on to the District 5 and International level which allows additional scholarship money to be awarded.

Thanks to all our loyal individual supporters who continue to give us donations every sale. We truly could not have this sale without your donations. We would like to thank these supporters and volunteers: WMOA, WTAP, Marietta Times, Marietta Township Community Center, Cranston Real Estate, Board of Realtors, McCarthy Real Living, Advantage Real Estate, and the WSCC students.

All of the remaining clothing was donated at the end of the sale to the Gospel Mission, Latrobe Mission, and The Church of Christ on South Seventh Street for their Africa Project.

The success of this event would not be possible without the continued support of all the Zonta members, their families and friends. Our next sale will be held April 7 and 8. We will be taking donations April 3 through April 6 every evening at the Marietta Township Community Building on Sandhill Road in Reno if you would like to donate to this worthy cause. I hope to see you there!
