Too much already taken from our kids!

Multi-use paths are great, soccer fields are great also. Please Washington County, do not trade an excellent finished project for another possibly good, not even started project. Find a way please to do the multi-use path to Devola from Marietta without tearing up the soccer fields or the fields’ limited parking. The soccer fields are crowned for drainage which means we can often play after a rain as the fields will be dry with water only on the aprons. All the land use is maximized to get the most number of fields, with correct mandated dimensions, for play. Since the fields are developed and maintained by the Marietta Soccer League there are no easements or right of ways. The land was purchased from a land owner by citizens.

Some history here can help the reader understand the plea. About 30 years ago there were city soccer fields where the current empty Food 4 Less sits. The city traded green space for money. Money, the city promised would be used in part, to replace the sold soccer fields. That never happened. Soccer enthusiasts worked to find and develop a space to call a soccer home. Now that soccer home to over 1,000 yearly soccer players and their families is being threatened.

Washington County, please do not take any thing more away from kids. Find a way to build the next “good thing” without destroying or compromising the soccer fields.
