Township officials appreciate donation

It is with great pleasure that the Liberty Township Board of Trustees would like to thank the Rutter Family Charitable Fund for their contribution in the funding of the historical marker for the former Dalzell School. Lifetime Liberty Township resident, Mary Hendershot, envisioned a historical marker being placed in hopes of preserving township and education history for generations to come.

Mary sought help from the Marietta Community Foundation and the Liberty Township Board of Trustees to apply for grant funding for purchase of the marker to be showcased at the former school. In partnership with Sewah Studios, Mary’s vision became a reality this year when the marker was installed by Township Trustee Steve Hendershot (Mary’s son) and Holden Holland (Township Employee) in front of the former school, also the location of the monthly Liberty Township Trustee meeting.

Unfortunately, due to failing health, Mary passed away before she could see the marker completed and installed. We hope Mary is smiling down on the finished project displaying the history of our small community. Once again, thank you to the Rutter Family Charitable Fund and the Marietta Community Foundation for making this vision possible. For good. For ever.
