Welfare League does so much for so many

The Marietta Welfare League’s membership base has been volunteering in Washington County for nearly 100 years. Many locals know about our group and our services like The Shoe Tag Fund, Music in the Park and The League Shop located inside Marietta Memorial Hospital. Current members are excited to continue the work started in 1926.

I’m writing today to shine a light on the groups that benefit from our work. Every January, the profits from The League Shop are given back to our community through the MWL Community Grant program. It was a record-breaking year for us and we are so honored to be able to award more than $81,000 to 51 groups making a real difference in Washington County!

Funded projects this year include feeding the hungry, educating and inspiring children, improving community services, providing health care options and all together making positive changes for those who live in Washington County! We wanted to be sure to say the names and focus the attention on the 51 local groups who received awards in the 2018-19 grant cycle. The organizations featured are the real heroes and heroines of the Mid-Ohio Valley. Each project directly benefits our community and we want to ensure your readers know the names of those working every day to make a difference.
