Riverfront Roar appreciates community support

This year marked the 19th annual Marietta Riverfront Roar. Many people work hard throughout the year to make race weekend a fun and enjoyable event for the community. On behalf of the committee and the board of directors I want to take the opportunity to thank those organizations who work behind the scenes and often go unrecognized.

A very special “thank you” goes to the City of Marietta for not only hosting the event but for their assistance and willingness in coordinating the logistical aspects and to the City of Williamstown for their support and assistance with putting on an awesome firework show.

The Marietta Fire Department and the Williamstown Fire Department participate in training and provide the safety and rescue crews that are vital to ensuring that all racers and spectators enjoy a safe event. We cannot thank them enough for all that they do. Gratitude goes to the Reno and Vienna Volunteer Fire Departments for their assistance. Thank you to the Marietta Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office for working with the Safety-Security Committee to facilitate a secure environment. We would also like to recognize the U.S. Coast Guard and WVDNR.

We would like to thank the following for their in-kind contributions. Without them, the Roar would not be possible: Morrison Inc., Bridgeport Equipment & Tool, American Producers, Cole’s Tire & Supply, United Rental, Haas Tractor Sales, Busy Bee Restaurant, Subway, People’s Bank, Mustang Aerial Services, Pioneer Masonry Supply, Lafayette Hotel, JD Byrider, PC Systems, Rod Harris – PGA Professional, iHeart Media, Bertram Trust, MKB Leasing, Rumpke, MHS Tigers Football Team, Sweet Corn Festival, Lisa Vore, Rollin’ Oldies Car Club, Discount Signs & Awnings, Lashley Tractor Sales, Mahindra, Patrick Taylor Photography, Over the Moon Pizza, CAS Cable, Davis Powers-Drone Photography, Eastern Burkholder, Giant Eagle, Gran Ranchero, Haas Communications, Henderson Wilds, Las Trancas, Reno Refinishing, Tampico and New Creations Digital Photography.

Last, but certainly not least, I want to thank the committee volunteers for their tremendous effort and diligence they put forth all year. Each one of you takes time from your busy schedules to plan this event with the hopes of it all coming together when the roar of the engines are heard and the green flag drops. We face challenges along the way and I know throughout the year we sometimes question why we do this. Maybe the challenge IS why we do it. After such a fun and successful weekend, I think we are just glad that we do… whatever the reasons may be.
