Holy haircut Batman!

February 6, 2009 - Erin O'Neill
Kids say and do the darnedest things and my child is certainly no exception. At three, she has already picked up some choice vocabulary (mommy, don't be a LOSER) and throws some super tantrums. She has put all manner of things in her mouth, rubbed fingerpaints and food in her hair and has mastered the childproof lock on the refrigerator.

But I think this one tops them far.

I was looking at my cherubic angel yesterday at dinner and noticed her hair looked a little lopsided. I have been trying to let it grow out because I love to put hair doodles - or noodles as she calls them - in her hair. I keep her bangs cut so they stay out of her eyes but, for the most part, it's rather longish. However, upon closer inspection, I noticed that the sides were uneven and she now closely resembled Leather Tuscadero from Happy Days (I'm dating myself with the reference but it's what I immediately thought of).

I was shocked. She had chopped her hair off! I didn't know whether to laugh or cry so I did a little of both. Poor baby knew she probably shouldn't have done it, though, from the look on her face. We went into her room and found the implement (baby manicure scissors) and the pile of newly shorn locks right beneath her full length mirror. Well at least she wasn't just snipping haphazardly!

I couldn't be too mad, though. It was just one of those too darn precious moments that I had to capture on film so I would always have it to look back on and embarrass her with when she gets older.

Now it's off to Cookie Cutters to get it fixed.
