I love food

April 23, 2009 - Jim Bartholow
Looking ahead to tonight's Taste of Home show. Leslie and I take tickets beforehand, but get to watch some of the show once it starts. We're regular viewers of the Food Network, have been for many years. Leslie loves to look up recipes and she's a great cook. Maybe that's why we like the cable channel. For me, though, I'm fascinated with how you can take a dozen ingredients and meld them into one tasty dish. The cooks are the real stars, though. The food is just the icing on the cake. Emeril was the best, mixing fun, music, and his unique interaction with the audience into a winning combination. Alton Brown is a hoot the way he dissects food into scientific elements. I could go on and on, mentioning Bobby Flay, Paula Deen, Sandra Lee, Rachel Ray, Giada, Tyler Florence, etc. Obviously, I watch a lot of cooking shows. Almost as much as I watch sports, which reminds me ... It really irks me when cable channels' coverage of my favorite team _the Cleveland Indians_ is blacked out in the Marietta area. When I'm primed to watch a ballgame, I don't want to see three hours of ESPN News or CNN Headline News, or America's Funniest Home Videos. I want to watch baseball!!!!! If you're going to pre-empt my game at least replace with another, backup game.
