Teachers deserve mad props, yo!

September 1, 2010 - Erin O'Neill

Connie Schultz has always been one of my favorite columnists because she writes how I feel, most of the time.

Her latest column to appear in The Marietta Times is timely, well written and strikes a chord with me.

I had a few favorite teachers in my lifetime: my second grade teacher, Mrs. Frampton; my awesome fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Cheng; all the way up to my college writing prof, Mr. Jimmy (yes, we called him that).

My parents were both teachers, my grandma was a teacher, as was her sister, as are several of my aunts. Teaching is a commendable profession and, a lot of times, a thankless one.

As I've made everyone aware over and over...and over...my child started her formal school career last week.

She loves her teacher. And for helping my baby to navigate the waters of elementary school, I am so grateful to her and all the teachers who give so much everyday.
