Facebook Timeline likely will not be ‘liked’ by all
October 31, 2011 - Art Smith
Sometime in the not so distant future Facebook is going to change. Again. My guess is many of the half billion users of the site will not be too happy about it. Again.
Facebook is going to introduce Facebook Timeline. Timeline is what will replace the info people see when they click on your name from their friends list.
It lays out in great detail messages and photos you have posted on the site since you began using the site.
It also features a very large photo of you that you can pick that is different than your profile photo.
Developers were able to switch a month or so ago. Once you switch, any of your friends that have switched will see your new page. Others will see the same page they have seen in the past.
I switched my page about a month ago. I personally think it’s a nice improvement.
Others I am sure will disagree. Even small changes by the Internet giant have caused a sea of hate posts by the millions of people who checked their profile page dozens of times a day.
My advice is to give it a chance before you start yet another “I hate the new Facebook” group.
In the end, people vote with their mice when it comes to using any website. If usage of the site drops I am certain developers would adjust the site back closer to what it currently looks like. My guess though it that after the initial shock, people will find the change useful, or they will simply learn to live with it.
