As another year draws to a close you see a lot of stories outlining the most important stories of the year. Editors pick a lot of those lists, readers who vote via polls pick others. I thought it would be interesting to do a list that went by the numbers, using the analytics record of page views of MariettaTimes.com. Below a list of the most read stories on the website since the stroke of midnight on Dec. 31 of last year.

Readers read a lot of stories last year, the site record more than 11.6 million page views, the most ever. A lot of the traffic is to pages that provide links to stories; the home page for instance had 3.1 million views, the obit page 828,000. Several of the stories on this list also made the top 10 most read stories on NewsandSentinel.com.
