NEW MATAMORAS — When a basketball team can hold an opponent to just a single field goal in a quarter it usually leads to good things. Do it twice, and it pretty much guarantees a win. The Marietta Lady Tigers did just that in their Foundation game with host Frontier as Marietta took a 68-22 win at Frontier High School Friday night. “They’re coming along,” said first-year Marietta girls’ basketball coach Scott Cozzens. “We work very hard in practice. We’re pretty deep.” Right from the opening tip the Lady Tigers were off and running as they held an eight point lead before Frontier got on the scoreboard. It wasn’t until Frontier junior Heather Booth hit a jumper off an assist from Ashley Kimble with 2:36 to play in the first quarter that the Lady Cougars got on the board as Marietta’s defense had them stifled. On the night Frontier was a dismal 8-of-50 from the floor and 6-of-18 from the free throw line.
