Gridiron Standouts
Prior to the start of the season there weren’t too many people in southeastern Ohio who really gave the Warren Warriors a chance at having the season that they did on the gridiron this fall. Except, of course, for the Warriors and their faithful fans. Warren finished in a tie with Frontier for the best record in Washington County, going 7-3 to pick up its first winning season in more than a decade. Finishing above the .500 plateau for the first time since the 1999 campaign and starting the season 6-0 for the first time since 1997 the Warriors’ success earned five players honors from the Southeast District. Senior standout linebackers Kaleb Wolfe and Kyle Pritt were named to the district first team as was junior Grant Venham while Jon Arbuckle and Erik Mason were honorable mention in the district, as selected by a panel of media representatives. “It’s a good tribute to them. They’ve all earned it,” said Warren football coach Jim Pifer.
