Theme reminds cancer patients they aren’t alone
We Are Family is the theme of this year’s American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life on May 15 and 16. Those who have relayed in the past realize how much they are a part of a big family at the local level and even more at the national and world-wide levels. We are united for a purpose—to fight cancer. Relay For Life teams gather each year at a site to celebrate the survivors of cancer, to remember those who have lost their battle with cancer and to fight back by raising funds for research and for programs for cancer patients and their families. We are one big family. Celebrate? Yes, we are proud to have a growing number of survivors who return year after year and take part in the Survivors’ Lap at Relay. Again this year a band will lead them in this lap as hundreds of their families and friends clap and cheer them for their victory over cancer. Our family grows bigger and bigger every year. Remember.
