You're right Irish, much better option to have zero people at schools that can defend out kids! How's that worked out?

Zombie rounds in a school? What happens if one of u cowboys miss and hit a child? Ugly if it hits a child! Armour piercing in a school building! Asknot, ive known those who like to talk tough, and when the times get tought, not alot of them r there when it all shakes out! U sound to me like a big crower, and part of the problem!

Read what I said Greek. Did I mention banning guns? NO!
The U.S. has a culture of violence that permeates everything. Why else would a civilized society think it has to be armed with a gun in a school? There should be no guns in schools period.
Yes, Lanza, the shooter at Sandy Hook stole the guns he used. He lived at home with his mother and stole her guns. Knowing her son was terribly troubled should have made her realize her guns should be secured outside of the home. She failed her son. The mental health community failed her son by not identifying his illness associated with violence. The court system failed her son by not issuing a civil commitment order to protect the community.
We can't change any of this, so let us learn the real lessons here or we're doomed to repeat them.

really Irish, you reported this comment???
irish, you obviously have zero clue. trust me, any cop or military personal would agree with me. If the bad guy is on the other side of a wall or car door, you need a bullet that can go threw it, but in close combat you want a "zombie" killer bullet that is designed to hit a target and not come out. Its called smart!"
grow up, you can hide behind me if S hits the fan.

Of course your idea (and obviously the new Miss USA) is to hand them teddy bears as they are massacring children. Let me know how that works out for you.

No Irisheyes, the lunacy is putting up a sign in front of the school inviting them in (GUN FREE ZONE) and then being too stupid to realize it.

AND you are flat out hands down wrong wrong wrong about arming everybody not working. It does. It has. AND there are statistics out there to PROVE it if you weren't so NARROWMINDED to SEE them. The lady that just shot a guy with her hubby on the phone as the bad guy kicked in her door. Protected her 2 kids. What do you say about those incidents?? Not everyone lives in a sweet neighborhood. Some live in dangerous places.

So Tessie what is YOUR answer. If you literally ban every firearm in the USA do you think it will stop this crap?? Heck no because there will always be one ILLEGAL weapon out there. The guy that did Sandy Hook in was using a stolen gun. See Mr. Richard Cains excellent letter to the editor today. Do you realize what it would take to get EVERY last gun confiscated from the USA??? In Europe, they came around and told you that if you didnt turn in your gun in 2 weeks you would get the death penalty!!!.. Is that what you all want?? Your neighbors, community leaders, store owners, fellow church friends, auto mechanics, slaughtered because they didnt turn over their guns??? What you are asking for is either impossible or a 2nd holocaust against the american gun owner that by the way has done NOTHING to deserve losing their constitutional right!!! Go back to LAA LAA LAND Tessie.

Come on people, try thinking outside of the box!
All of the fixes you've offered are reactive efforts. Guns, bombs, sabotage are methods used by unstable people to harm others. The remedy to this situation is to address the cause of mass killings.
Violent, unstable person + access to method of murder (cause) = mass murder (effect).
Arming teachers or other school officials is ludicrous. Armed people all over town, in a restaurant, the park, shops, anywhere and everywhere is outrageous. That is not the answer to the problem. Treating people who are prone to violence and limiting their access to methods of violence and the public will work, and little Johnny will not be caught in the crossfire.
Arming school personnel is utterly ridiculous!

It is amazing how those with so little knowledge about firearms feels they can dictate what the knowledgeable person "needs."

Like the one guy said, lets quit talking about it and do something.
Take the casino money schools just got and use it to start hiring security officers. It may not be enough right now for all the schools but its a start and at least some schools will be protected.
And I'd like to see them equipped with a small rifle like one of those armalite rifles with bullets that rip throughout the body instead of passing through and hitting innocent victims.

Stiffy, its about priorities, America blows $$$$, getting rid of the stupid pork projects alone would free up more than enough money to fund this. Stop the pointless war on drugs, and we'd be $34B ahead after paying for that.

I would venture to say the sight of that cruiser setting in front of the school is gonna make the bad guys keep on driving or change their minds altogether.

This is a great idea!! And for only the cost of making 25 keys !! What a dollar a key? 25 dollars? Excellent. And the janiors that workingstiff is talking about is great. About time someoe starts thinking in this country instead of blaming the guns and other parties that don't agree with their opinions and posting a bunch of antigun hogwash on these posts!!

Get this going so the cowards that kill and them commit suicide (the cowards way out), have sufficient deterrent not to attempt. Remember, they are really just little children who are cowards.

The schools need to take that casino $$ and implement some sort of security measure for the time being.

If memory serves me correctly, when Bob Schlicher was sheriff he implemented community policing with outposts in several parts of the county including at the Barlow VFD as well as New Matamoras and Macksburg to name just a few. This program was eliminated by Sheriff Mincks who now once again wants to look like he is coming to the rescue. Those of us who have been around awhile know better....we won't drink your kool-aid!!
