it is very easy and cheap to stop power failures from requiring a computer to reboot during a power failure.

you need to buy a UPS(uninterruptible power supply) a typical computer requires one with a rating of 550 VA and costs less than $70.00.

I have a total of 7 of them in my apartment and power issues are NEVER a problem.

Protection systems turning the power off for safety is all well & good, but I can tell you it happens 10x as much here as any other place I know, even outside of city limits. I'd think the system is too sensitive, or the infrastructure is super old, or we just have too many squirrels. I've seen one get zapped and fall to his demise yet the power didn't go off.

Something is different about the power in Marietta.

And about tracking: there are very simple systems to track power. We own a GE one where I work to prove the power company is providing us brown outs and surges. Very helpful. I'm sure AEP doesn't want one.

This is nothing compared to the outages we will experience once team Obama has their way with the coal industry. Also, think of the unemployment his shutting down coal will have.
