Polite driversTurn down the stereo, turn off the high beamsJanuary 18, 2013Few things are more frustrating for Marietta resident Isaac Nayak, 17, than being behind a driver that does not seem to notice when the light turns gree.... Showing 25 of 28 comments Show More Comments

to the person who disagreed with my comment about the “Pittsburgh Left Hand Turn” courtesy: do you know what that means or what it is?

Jeepman 124 the reason people ride in the pass lane from Marietta to Reno is because in Ohio we have Idiots for Engineers who put man hole covers in the road instead of behind the curb and most of them are in the outside or slow lane so to save wear on schocks most of us figured this out to ride the inside or pass lane.

HID lights, driving lights that are too bright, and idiots with high beams on are some of my pet peeves. Now, the driving light people won't use high beams because that turns off their blinding lights, er driving lights.
Wv has the headlights with wipers law too, those that choose not to use lights in the rain are endangering everyone. You get used to looking for headlights and sometimes don't notice the idiots with no lights on the first look.

the new blue headlights
turning on the turn signal either WAY to soon, or way too late
and taking 3 miles to get up to speed. About every trip out to Devola, it seems like I'm behind someone that doesn't get up to 45 until the get the chamberlain.

Traffic would move a lot smoother in certain areas of town if more people practiced the “Pittsburgh Left Hand Turn” courtesy.

Hey folks: major intersections in Marietta have sensors under the payment in order sense a car and change the lights….but…you have to get close to the real, thick, solid, white lines painted across all the intersections in town to change the light. That means is you slow down 50 yards in front of the light hoping the light will change before you get there….hey, it ain’t going to change UNTIL you get there.

Tess & Slo: They are HID as you mention. They're only legal if they're factory installed & properly "capped" so they aren't blinding. Many people in this area install them after market (illegally) and those are the ones that are blinding. You shouldn't see blue, purple or any other color. Those are all also illegal. Only the ones that are near white are tyipcally factory installed. Sometimes BMW & Mercedes are a slight bit more blue.

I'M SICK OG PEOPLE RIDING IN THE PASSING LANE TO AND FROM RENO!!! wE SPENT MILLIONS OF DALLRS TO MAKE IT A 4 LANE, AND ALL WE HAVE ARE MORONS DOING 35 MPH IN BOTH LANES. IF I DO GET UP TO THE SPEED LIMIT OF 45MPH, I'M WEAVING BASKETS JUST TO KEEP PACE. - JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE TURNING ON SANDHILL DOES NOT MEAN RIDE THE LEFT LANE FOR 3 MILES!!!

I grew up in Ohio and now live near Charleston, WV. When people ask where I am from, I then have to listen to people complain about Ohio drivers. Their claim is that Ohio drivers drive slow in the passing lane.

Although I can see why many use the left lane towards Reno, the right hand lane is almost impossible to hold your vehicle straight and the hydroplaneing on RT 7 as well.Really bad hydroplaneing in the area of Summers and the old Alan Knost car lots

What about State Route 7 at the cemetary? The speed limit here is 45mph all the way to the Dimex building. Try going 45 or 50 and you'll get run over. And the stop sign for the emloyees of the companies that work in the old Kardex building. All this happens within easy view of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Go figure.

Tess, the are called HID lamps.I believe it stands for High Intensity Discharge.I am with you. They make it difficult to see and some states have questioned their legality

It is nice to see some one give up the rightaway and let a car out from the side but those who hold you up while they let out a dozen or so are rage starters.

Ohio has a law that requires drivers to turn on their car's lights when using the windshield wipers. That makes sense to me but it seems it doesn't make sense to the many drivers who fail to do so. And it seems to me that the majority of the drivers who fail to do so, drive cars that are the color of pavement. It's a courtesy to other drivers but it's also the law.
Even though it's illegal to use high beams when approaching traffic from the other side of the road or close behind another driver, I find the newer blue-type headlights are more blinding. Are they LED or halogen or what? Way to bright.

My biggest beef is people blasting by in the left lane headed toward the Lafayette Hotel, only to jam up traffic and turn brake lights on for blocks trying to merge back to the right before the stop sign turning right onto Front. And people who cross 3 lanes of traffic to turn right on Second the block before it. It's easy to tell an out of town person who is simply lost/unsure and give them some courtesy for not knowing and those who do it to try to "get an edge" on you... And those folks who illegally change lanes when turning onto Front by the Lafayette and merge directly into the left lane, getting angry when someone who follows the law goes those 3 or 4 yards and left blinks to properly change after the solid white. THAT legal action will cause a rage on Front Street daily from the law breaker who had no idea you weren't just being a hole.

Amazing a teen-ager would complain about having to wait at a stop light for someone else not paying attention. Son, it is your generation that does most of that because you are "texting". As is that cannot wait until you can pull over and safely "text". Most of you teen-agers are the culprits, not the victims.
