More mandates from the state with no funding ! Sorry Mr. Thompson- disagree with you on this one. The person who suffers here is the client. Comfort Keepers and other agencies will raise the fee for the client.

Too bad our president didn't have to go through a background such as this BEFORE the election.

Why would any of you be opposed to this screening? Sending a convicted felon into homes of the eldery, trusting individuals is asking for trouble. I have a family member that uses this type of service, and have often thought (even suspected) that "things" have come up missing. I'm surprised this wasn't mandated long before now. If this adds to the costs for the patients, it's money well spent!

The fingerprinting/background check is every THREE years in West Virginia for those companies that provide state paid in-home waiver services. Has been in place for a while.

swilson - read the article. this type of background check is already in place. Every reputable agency performs extensive background checks before the person is hired. The objection here is continued/repeat checks (while still employed by same company) mandated from the state with no funding to carry out such orders.

There is risk in life. We have to assume some of it as individuals. The gov't needs to take a step back. It is continually advancing and making more and more requirements...cost...with very little improvement.

fingerprint checks are mandated by the state for all persons working within a school district. Many districts pass this cost of to the employee or volunteer. This past year I paid nearly one hundred fifty dollars for background checks.
