In his statement issued today, NRA honcho Wayne LaPierre said that ALL Americans need to obtain guns to protect themselves from roaming "Hispanic gangs"! He added that he and other "gun-rights" advocates "will not surrender or back off on this issue" ... "We will neither surrender nor retreat!" ~ Colonel William Barrett Travis ... I understand that Bill Travis had a little "problem" with Hispanics at a place called the "Alamo". I wonder how that worked out?

@Sticky - Don't flatter yourself. I have NO "problem" with you. In fact, you do a very fine job demonstrating to general-readers what I mean when I use terms like "rightwing fanatic"! ... BTW - "Happy St. Valentine's Massacre Day" to Stick and other regressive folks who assume that the Second Amendment means "anything goes with guns"!

Freddie, your little rant brings to mind the old saying "there's the pot calling the kettle black!"

It's clear, your biggest problem with me is that I won't knuckle under to your constant insults!

@Sticky - Your endless hours of "training" and your self-proclaimed "expertise" about weapons can't disguise the FACT - proven by your daily rants against me and anyone who suggests sensible gun-or- ammo-regulation - that you are a fanatic dogmatist who considers any point of view other than your own as "heresy"!

@Brat - It was Samson who used the "jawbone of an ass" to fight the Philistines ... Speaking of "Philistines", the Wiki Dictionary defines "philistinism" as "the social attitude of anti-intellectualism that undervalues and despises art, beauty, spirituality and intellect; the manners, habits, character and mode of thinking of a philistine." ... That describes Harley and many others here quite correctly ... Let's see if I've got this right - Greek is still singing the praises of nutcase rocker Ted Nugent, and Harley is claiming that us leftys just loooove the late and unlamented psycho ex-cop Christopher Dorner? Ha! Nugent and Dorner are/were delusional crazies - but they have some company among the equally-delusional crazy rightwingers who post here! ... You "Three Musket-eers" waste an awful lot of bandwidth & still end up sounding like a broken-record! Yawn!

People are so focused on guns being the only weapons. Didn't it state in the christian bible that Christ once used the jaw of a, I will use the word mule, as a weapon when he entered a holy building and saw people behaving in an inappropriate way?

NasCarNut, as I recall the left has told us over and over again that Sen. Byrd changed and was no longer affiliated in any way with the clan. So he can change but Ted can't?

The theories are coming from the LAPD's own Internal Affairs Division !!!According to CNN just now. They are being investigated by them with assistance from the FBI from what I saw because they called to torch the place on the walkie talkies and it was heard by civilians.

oneill, you never cease to amaze with your lack of information. I am guessing by your posts that you had no clue that the left was rallying around the nut job ex cop and singing his praises all over social media. Once again your assumptions have been proven wrong. Oh and BTW the conspiracy theories are coming from the left as well.

As patriotic as Uncle Ted claims to be, he pulled a nasty stunt to evade Uncle Sam during the Vietnam War. In a July 15, 1990, Detroit Free Press interview, Nugent crowed about how he managed to dodge the draft. He claims that 30 days before his draft board physical, he disavowed personal hygiene. The last ten days he ingested nothing but junk food and Pepsi, and with a week to go until the physical, he stopped using the bathroom altogether. When the big day came, he had been living in excrement-caked and urine-stained pants. Always the hero, however, Nugent reassured the Free Press, “But if I would have gone over there, I’d have been killed, or I’d have killed all the Hippies in the foxholes. I would have killed everybody.”

He's a POS...

Stick, you are right. Ted sat WITH the sherrif's and police.!!! There is your nutcase Oneill.!!People were asking him to run for prez.No mater what he says Stick, he thinks we are all a bunch of crimminals with guns like the LA cop. You can't pin him down or he will pull an illegal tag and throw sand in your eyes and throw up some melarchy about survivalists or rogue cops if any one disses his gang of blind faith draft dodging hippies.

And for the record Freddie, my CCW instructor is the Montgomery County Shreiff's department training officer. And Lord knows I spent many hours in weapons training in the Army, where I learned a LOT more than any concealed carry class is capable of covering.

Maybe we need to enforce the existing laws that prohibit mentally ill people and felons from owning guns? Oh, that's right, those are laws that according to Joe Biden, we don't have the resources to enforce. So passing new laws that we don't have resources to enforce makes sense?

Only in the mind of a dedicated lefty!

Like I said, the newer folks here you might fool with your new found support of the 2nd amendment. Long time folks here have seen your comments, we'll let the masses decide.

I'm pretty sure my 3 years in Airborne Infantry more than qualifies me for my use of a AR platform semi-auto rifle. As always, you claim we're out traipsing through the hills with a rifle. My shooting is done at a established shooting range, with range officers to insure that all safety rules are followed.

Are you so stupid that you'd believe any network would show Nugent at the speech? We both know that showing a 2nd amendment advocate in a good light ain't in their stated agenda. Nugent is a deputy sheriff both in Texas and Michigan. I'd wager he'd be on the cops side!

@D.A.- An "assault-weapon" is ANY weapon designed mainly for "assault" rather than hunting, recreation, or self-protection! For instance, a jackknife is designed for peaceful pursuits. A Bowie knife or a Samurai sword isn't. One can carry a jackknife in public, but if you walk into a restaurant or bar toting a Bowie knife or a Samurai sword, you might get busted.

The Armed Forces, National Guard, FBI, ATF officers, and other law-enforcement people are part of what the founders called a "well-regulated militia". Amateurs like the Greek, the Stick, Devil's Advocate, and self-appointed Rambos out there playing with their toys in the woods AREN'T! ... BTW - Two to twelve hours of so-called "gun-training" (consisting mostly of target-practice) can't guarantee either expertise OR sanity - especially if the instructor is some paranoid wingnut who sees "black helicopters" behind every cloud!

... And, once again, I consideer acute paranoia and unfounded fear of strangers to be a form of mental-illness - and (like about 99% of the American people) I believe that mentally-ill people should not be allowed to buy or carry firearms!

O'Neil: Why do the educated as.s. wipes in the media, the elected no brainers, & appointed Czars call our .223/5.56 rifles assault weapons? We all know that assault weapons are "auto" fire, not semi, (pull the triger each time). Knowing this, you continue to defend that trash.

Meanwhile our all truthful government purchases truly automatic weapons w/o a single MSM/O'neil type lifting a finger. Our government is so deceitful & cowardice that they call their fully automatic platforms...wait..wait, it's coming... PERSONAL DEFENSE WEAPONS, (PDW)! Do you see the irony in this? My rifle that is spooky bl.ack fires one bullet with the squeeze of trigger is a personal defense weapon. You tell me I own an 'assault weapon'. They have full 'auto' and it is called personal defense.

While the Stick is digging through my past comments, let him show ANY comment where I've said that the Second Amendment should be repealed, or that law-abiding citizens shouldn't own firearms for hunting, sports-shooting, or home-protection! I've said that there should be comprehensive background checks to weed out felons and mentally-ill persons, more regulations on gun-trafficking, and restrictions on high-capacity clips and combat-style weapons like that Dorner guy was using in his killing spree ... The Fish and Wildlife cops who had a firefight with Dorner said he was using a fully-automatic weapon that fired continuously ... As a former cop, Dorner was undoubtedly knowledgeable about how to convert a semi-automatic weapon into a fully-automatic one, and (unlike folks like the Greek and the Stick) he also seemed to know that these particular kind of weapons are designed for only ONE purpose - to quickly kill as many people as one can!

If I recall correctly, it was the Greek who was singing Nugent's praises. Sticky said he was "extreme", but puts out the same faux "tough guy" crap! ... WAs Nugent a "no-show" at the SOTU speech tonight, or were the cameras pointed elsewhere? For all his "trigger-happy" rhetoric, Nugent (like some others I could mention who yap here) is basically just a loud-mouthed coward!

@Stick - And anyone who follows these comment forums knows that you exaggerate a lot, and whine a lot when you run out of NRA talking points! Never said I was against someone having a conceal/carry permit. I said that I'm not in favor of taking guns into public places like restaurants, bars, hospitals, courtrooms, schools, college-classrooms, and churches. I know that paranoid people think that guns are needed in all of these places because the world is full of bad guys out to get their stuff! I just think that lives are more important than stuff! Yes, there are bad people out there, and I would probably fight or even kill to protect lives, but I don't feel the need to prove my manhood by packing a gun everywhere I go! Some of these paranoiacs should try watching something else on tv besides FOX Noise, "true crime" shows or old Charles Bronson flicks!

Freddie, you wouldn't even call it restaurant carry, you insisted on calling it "bar carry." Now suddenly, you support concealed carry? Sure you do!

It's really too bad for the newer folks here that the discussions over restaurant carry aren't available, they'd see how much of a liar you are!

Where did I defend Nugent, I said he's extreme, as are many on the left. Maybe you need to watch that "misquote" deal yourself.

Once again, you remind me of why I am so blessed to NEVER have a twit like you as a teacher!

BTW - After you finish watching the SOTU speech, I suggest that you read the ENTIRE text of THe U.S. Constitution & Bill of Rights! Also note where Nugent parks his butt in relation to the twenty or so victims of gun-violence! Hey, we might get to see yet ANOTHER gun-happy psycho get what he justly deserves - i.e. to be hauled off to the hoosegow by the Capitol cops for yelling obscenities and threats during the President's SOTU address!

@Greek - It might be running a bit late. The cabin where Dorner is allegedly holed up has gone up in flames, and (according to the authorities) he has not emerged! "Those that live by the sword ..."? Now I'm going to give you and the other "gun-rights" folks the benefit-of-the-doubt and say that you're NOT about to remind us of Waco and Ruby Ridge or propose some wild "conspiracy" theories to justify your beliefs in a fully-armed society!
