Complete aside from the subject of the thread - I am a little surprised that Mr. Caldwell is still Superintendent. I do not mean this in a derogatory way. The intended meaning is that he has held office for quite some time. I am not sure of how long he's been in that position, but I do remember when I was much younger hearing his name as the Super for my Alma Mater. It's been so long that I can't remember if he was Super while I was a student there or if he attained office shortly after I graduated.

At any rate, the guy has to be doing something right to hold the office for so long. Kudos to him for holding the position.

dear friend munster...it appears that what you are seeing is the remnants of the ohio education system Kasich inherited from Ted "Strychnine" Strickland. give Kasich a pass and the benefit of the doubt like you do for Obama. hey Obama has even had longer. do you think he enjoys watching the pretty lights from the changing numbers on the debt clock?

Now maybe he knows how the community feels when the superintendent and BOE tells you one thing and does another.

Suellen Coleman, first off...what you have done is very admirable. there are teachers that care and go above and beyond the call of duty. why wasn't she offered an increase from the balance of the now part-time employee? the money was already in the budget. sounds a little cheesy on the surface. it is astounding to see the percentages of reduced/free lunch participants. a very telling sign of the times.

If you are dissatisfied with your school system you owe it to your children to move to a better system. It is like the welfare system of the great society. Those who thought that the system would be their answer to all things found that it failed them. Those who fought their way out of the welfare system saved their children and their families from institutional failure.

There's no point in being angry, Mr. Caldwell. Kasich is, after all, a politician and is going where the votes are - in the big, wealthy districts. Besides, he'll get the Wolf Creek, Warren, and Frontier votes anyway as those folks ALWAYS vote against their own interests.
