BeRight, you comment about people moving their vehicles to the side of the road and waiting for the police is ridiculous. The vehicles need to be left at the scene of the accident or there will be no visual proof of what happened. I refuse to move my vehicle in a fender bender until the police have come and taken pictures. My auto insurance will back me up on this one. By moving the vehicles, there is no proof of who is at fault.

As for voting those pesky council people out - haven't you all noticed no one is running to vote in.

Did anyone within the state or city engineering departments do a physical versus an automated study of the intersection? If so, you should have been able to determine the root cause of the problem with left turns from Seventh Street onto Green Street relatively easy. The problem is with the traffic signal timing. This timing does not allow for the intersection to clear before turning signal green on the left turn lane of Seventh Street. If you would add 5 to 10 seconds between turning the right and left turn lanes signal red on Pike Street that would allow more time for the intersection to clear. This would reduce the amount of accidents at this intersection.

Roundabouts: there are a few roundabouts in the state. They just take a short time to figure out if you are a good driver. However, when there is an accident in the roundabout, it creates a mess if the folks are not smart enough to move out of the roundabout. In this area, people seem to think that when they have a fender bender they must freeze in place until the police arrive instead of driving their vehicles to the side of the road, out of the way. Also, if people would be trained to follow the “Pittsburgh left hand turn custom” traffic flow all over town would improve.

There are already 18 traffic lights between Reno and the West Side. The congestion and other traffic issues are caused by untimed lights and people who pay no attention to speed limits, use no turn signals (or use them only after they stop at an intersection), have no clue how to enter a turn lane, and insist on driving in the left lane 20 mph below the speed limit. Changing an intersection won't help.

Roundabouts are a very popular traffic control tool in socialist europe, go round till u find ur right turn, no stopping for lights. What do u think about that socialist idea stiffy?

Sarek is absolutely right. Speedway will become just that. You'll also add 1000 cars a day to the road by autozone, then they'll want to fix that hill that enters Greene Street. Captain D's will also become a cut through.

Grants or not, it's a poor solution.

I would add two points. First, why would we be accepting this project which predicts and "allows" 2.9 fatalities a year. And second, wouldn't people just be more likely to cut through Speedway's lot to cut across to turn left on Greene? Maybe I'm not getting it but why not just clean the area up and enforce laws that are already on the books to improve the traffic flow?

Wouldn't it be nice if our local, State, and Federal officials were as concerned with the ECONOMY as they are pet/pork projects. Here is a novel idea, use our tax money to help employers create living wage jobs.

Just because someone else is paying for something that is a bad idea does not turn it into a good idea.

This plan is flawed from the start. There are ways to improve that intersection without creating a mess at another location.

Police enforcement at the 7th/Greene/Pike Street intersection would be a good place to start.

Pike, Seventh and Green would be a good place for the the police to park and watch for traffic violations. They could get their monthly quotas in a week at this location.

They just don't get it ! Stupid idea, waste of money, etc. etc. This council has shown it doesn't care what anyone think's. It will do what ever it want's and when ever it want to. Even to line their own pockets. This next election poeple should vote out some of these councilmen and add in some new ones so there will be some checks and balances and to try to stop the wasting of our time and money.

Imagine that. Vuk votes "NO". Of course, it was automatic since he has yet how to say or vote the word "yes". Oh, how he misses Shive, who would join him. Does Vuk vote in Warren?

I have to agree with Vukovic on this. I turn left onto Greene Street from Seventh Street almost every day. I hate having to go out onto Pike Street to get to Norwood!!!!! Fix the streets that we have.

Stop wasting money !!! I was nearly run down in the Speedway parking lot last week by an idiot that couldn't wait for the left turn light...can only imagine how much worse it would be after these "improvements"...OR about a few tickets handed out there by the unseen police???
