The artical states that the funds for this project did not come from local funding. It reads... The local Friends of the Museums organization manages Campus Martius and the Ohio River Museum, but the historical society owns the buildings. The $44,500 cost of the skylight will not come from local funds, Smith said. It also states that many improvements were made to the new skylight to insure that it will last much longer than the orignal skylight while preserving its historic intergrity. I think it was very nice for the OHS and associates to invest their time and funds into preserving the history of our state.

Statements in this story make me laugh. The old flimsy one lasted 80+ years and the new high tech $44,500 will last 80 to 100 years. Must be a huge improvement over the original flimsy one! Just more wasted money. Couldn't get anyone local to make another flimsy one and replace it after 50 years I guess.
