Broughton dairy’s production may be shrinking

Agreed on the spoilage -- We've always found Broughton milk to spoil quicker than other brands -- it makes no sense, but it's definitely true....always has been.

The closest Meijer store around here is in Lancaster??? I know for a fact you don't tell WalMart what you are doing, how much space you want, etc. You do what they tell you or your out. That happened several years ago with Rubbermaid and they did get back later.

For those of you who believed it was Wal Mart that cut ties with Dean Foods, it was not.

It was Meijer's that decided to use their own dairy farms.

If you spent a little over four seconds with Google instead of just wild-guessing things, you would have found out.

lol, that combined with the "tasteless meat" comment are 2 of the most absurd things I've ever read on here! Congrats, because thats a pretty high bar to reach.

You both understand, that all milk and meat, for the most part is the EXACT same in every store you go to! Sure there are different versions, but unless you're buying free range organic, chances are the milk/meat you buy at Giant Eagle, Krogers, Walmart, and regardless of the brand, probably came from the same cow/farm!

I would say Texas needs to look deep into the daily activity of the plant. Personal issues are there. Production manager and plant manger are on a mission other than what is best for the company. Replace them, and their way of doing things, and they will recover

"tasteless meat"???? lol, what an odd complaint! Wonder where he thinks there meat comes from that is different from ANYWHERE else you can get meat, unless you're shooting it, or buying it from a farm yourself.

Any one working there should have figured this was coming. Don`t put all your eggs in one basket. They have pulled production of every thing but Gal. and 1/2gal milk they have not made anything else for a while. If the family would have just got along!

I have thrown out numerous containers of cottage cheese because it tasted on the sour side, they don't make it in Marietta anymore. I miss the sweeter taste - daughter says Aldi's is close to the taste - will try.

i am betting it is walmart. they have three locations in the valley and also sams club gets its milk from broughtons. hope they connect back up i always got a great deal at walmart.

Giant Eagle? The article clearly states it is a major national chain. Giant Eagle is a small regional chain with stores in western PA and central-eastern OH. There is only one chain big enough to shake down the giant dairy conglomerate Dean Foods.

I like my milk without rBST/rbgh. In my opinion milk coming from cows not treated with these hormones taste much richer and less bitter. One of the reasons I could never stand the taste of Broughtons (or anyone elses milk) until I started buying Giant Eagle branded milk. Ironically Giant Eagle branded milk is made in plants owned by Dean's Dairy.
