(stiif) I know it not about bowling it about a local business that because of the rise in cost of utilities has had to raise it prices per game to the point where It's harder for a family to go and bowl like they use to. Which in turn already has hurt business any added cost would only hurt it more.

@Greek - If you believe that "there is good in both party views" kindly relate that message to the dogmatic Republican obstructionist wingnuts in Congress and in Columbus!

@Harley - Aren't YOU the one who complained early today that us "leftys" were being "strangely quiet" on this topic? I hope you're happy now! If you want more, just let me know! LOL!

Since the Ohio Supreme Court ruled that funding Ohio schools only with property taxes was unConstitutional, the burden of supporting public-education IS spread around quite a bit ... Is Ka$ich's school-funding "solution" viable for ALL Ohio schools, or just for the ones he and his "people" consider "worthy"? ... Not being much of a boozer, I probably won't be of much help in the current crisis, but I did my bit when I taught school and earned $15,000. a-year before taxes! Stay thirsty my friends - your children depend upon your "spirited" support!

I seem to remember something out of American history where the "landowners" stopped running the country about the time that Andy Jackson was elected President in 1828 ... Did the Greek sleep through that lesson back in high school? BTW - Since "Greek" doesn't denote country of origin, does it have anything to do with spoiled fratboys like George W. Bush and Mitt Romney?

That is only on the federal level. Do that with the state income taxes and we would be getting a bigger bang for our tax buck. Yes, some CPA's will have to find work for the entire year minus tax season if the filing process is simplified. It will never happen because the rich people are represented by both parties and are influencing their votes because they know they are getting a great deal. Oneill, You should not assume that because the views of a person on a certain subject are so and so that they are totally left or right. Some of us feel there is good in both party views as long as people do not degrade each others opinions.

No one is gonna convince me that we couldn't take the 10 billion dollars that it cost us to run the IRS in 2005 and deposit it in Social Security and other assistance programs to give the poor a cost of living raise. Then start charging say 2 percent income tax on every dollar spent. Golf balls, supper out, bowling, vacations everything, . The rich will spend a proportional amount on taxes. If they spend 10 grand, they will pay 2% in taxes. What $200?If a retired person spends $1000 a month, they will spend $20 in taxes. This would relieve the landowners of paying for levies also and spread the burden out some.

Perhaps, if Ohio wants more incoming revenue, it should follow the example of Colorado, where a bill has just been introduced to charge a "fee" (a.k.a. "tax") on ALL firearm purchases! Ka$ich could call it a "gat tax" (folks under 40 might want to Google "gat") ...

Mine died of a heart-attack after slaving for 50 years for Chevrolet! Sorry for your loss! One should learn from adversity, NOT blame one's problems on the elderly or working-poor to do what they can to keep up with the eternally-rising cost-of-living!

@Greek - Perhaps when you get to "that age", you might become a bit wiser about the realities of life - or perhaps you might not be able to buy as many guns and other toys as you did during the Bush years! Continue whining! It's most entertaining!

Yeah, Greek, I've heard that line before - it's on page 1357 of "Atlas Shrugged"! What's the matter? Was it too hard today sitting in your cublicle, sipping latte, and yelling at the "help"! Go out sometime to some fast-food joint or check out a highway crew to see some "real" working people! Wasting one's inheritance from daddy does NOT count as "work"!

I wonder if the Greek left Greece before or after their economy tanked and their Ryan-esque "austerity" programs made matters worse for the majority of Greek citizens?

The "flat-tax" folks probably believe in a "flat-earth" as well! Of course, if they have read a lot of Ayn Rand junk or are still in love with Ross Perot, they probably think that sales taxes are "God's punishment" for being poor, and that the "well-off" should never pay ANY taxes and that slavery is still a good idea!

Whine on! ... Kasich's "tax" on oil/gas drilling is a "drop-in-the-bucket" compared to what these allegedly "profitable" outfits should be kicking in to the state that let's them pollute to their hearts' content!
