The protest rally, scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday in front of the Hancock County Courthouse, will include testimonies by victims of sexual abuse and remarks by other "concerned citizens," said Adam Rahuba, a publicist for Anonymous. But the main focus of the vigil will be to ask why Tyler M. Graham, 19, of Weirton was released on a $50,000 property and surety bond after being charged with the alleged rape of a 2-year-old girl. - See more at: *******heraldstaronline****/page/content.detail/id/583690/Activist-group-plans-protest-in-Hancock.html?nav=5010#sthash.NMDErJQu.dpuf

Nice job annonymous for openning some eyes.
With so many on here hiding behind their names(including me); I don't see much difference with the mask thing.
Continue to support the victims.

Oneill: LOL! Much respect to you, my friend.
The second rally will take place on March 10th at noon, again at the Washington County Courthouse. Hope to see some of you there. And thanks again for the great discussion!

"Prezbo"? "Oscar Queenie"? "Jeremiah Wright"? "Jesse Jackson"? "race riot rantmeister Al Sharpton"? I eagerly await Stiffy's next bogus claim that his rants "have nothing to do with "race" ... Talk about "verbose"! Stiffy's daily manifestoes make my sometimes lengthy explanations look like mere "tweets" ...

"If you pay attention, you'll see that the world is full of so-called "churches" that peddle Communism as if that evil system was ordained by God"
wasn't it though??...
Steven Wienberg said it best - "Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."

I've been out-of-the-loop pop-culture-wise and only saw "V for Vendetta" recently. Until then, I thought that the masks worn by "Occupy" protesters represented "Zorro"!

@Darstin - Thanks for the explanation. As I said, I'm an "old person" but I'm trying to keep an open mind about some of the newfangled cyber-tactics used by today's activists. In my day, we just marched on Washington and wrote letters-to-the-editor!

If you ever want to know what Anonymous stands for (the worldwide movement, not just the hacker collective), then just watch this short video. THIS is what Anonymous and AmeriSec are about.

I love it when I see a group like anonymous does good. Their methods aren't always kosher, but if they had not snagged to break into the stupid Steubenville red roll website, a lot of things that went on that were obviously illegal , never would have seen the light of day. It would have been shoved under the carpet, and no one would have been the wiser. I hope to justice done. Very possibly , the victim has a better chance now since this group shed some much light on this case.

... everything we have to ensure people are not oppressed by government and/or the norms of society. Thank you all so much for this discussion, it's very refreshing, to say the least.
And to MaryPoppins, it's our pleasure. I was at the Stuebenville rallies, and they were by far some of the most beautiful things I've EVER seen. Justice for Jane Doe!

Wow! I'm astounded at the debate this has sparked. Discussion like this is what I like to see; opinions given out, disagreements, counter-opinions, so on and so forth. This is what we fight for; your right to do just this. Oneill, this particular group (AmeriSec) focuses on doing everything 100% legally. We want no harm to anyone, nor do we wish to cause any kind of trouble. As for anonymity, that is entirely an individual's right. I went on the record with my name to show the people that, at least for me, the mask is a show of solidarity, and to get people to focus on the message, not me. As I told Sam, and as is reflected in this article, Anonymous is an idea. While some may embrace Anonymity, some do not. It's all about common goals, not gimmicks. The Guy Fawkes mask is a symbol; a man gave the ultimate price to free his people from oppression. Now, does that mean we'll blow up the government?*****no. It just means that we will fight (legally, of course, at least for AmeriSec) wit

Do any of these groups "voice" a differing position or political view, not all libertarians are for govt interference in markets, or allow civil liberties to be breeched in the name of safe warm cookies out of the oven feelings. Why some are even atheists, so add details in your post and quit broadbrushing Americans.Conservatives and Libertarians have a choice of political parties, the NRA, our churches, the Heritage Foundation, the CATO Institute, several national military Veterans' organizations, Boy Scouts (we hope), Oath Keepers, FreedomWorks, 9-12 groups, Buckeye Firearms Association, Ohio Liberty Council, NFIB, Chamber of Commerce, and many more. Anyone who thinks they need ANOTHER "voice" is not paying attention to opoortunities to get working in something already up and running.

Julian Assange brought to light various deeds of U.S. govt. officials without anonymity, and lok at his plight, this movement may not be the ideal way to bring certain acts of our government and corporate to the forefront, but in todays world with databases on citizens being sold to insurance companies among others, it may be the only way to provide a voice to/for the "ordinary" citizen.

@Ask - Like with anything else, the standard should be "do no harm". Not being overly familiar with this particular group, I'll give them the benefit-of-the-doubt ... Concerning the rape problem in Steubenville, it looks like the local powers-that-be (like those at Penn State) were covering up an inconvenient scandal and deserved to be "outed" by somebody! If that's what it takes, so be it!

@Ask - I see your point, but I'm old now and no longer need to worry about repercussions ... @Wrecks - I stand corrected. Thanks! I think I read that before, but I guess I thought that Fawkes was burned because of the bonfire thing they used to do on November 5 ... Fortunately we're more "civilized" today!

Not everyone lurks behind an anonymous pen name. I see nothing worng with exspressing my opinion on matters that concerns me or us. I do mine openly because I choose to but if someone does hide behind a pin name that is their right too. Some people worry that others care differently and it might come back and bite them it is a small city.

Guy Fawkes was hung, drawn and quartered along with 3 fellow plotters on 1.31.1606. Fawkes, aka Guido Fawkes and Guido Johnson, ratted on his pals after some days of progressive torture. Fawkes was able to cheat the hangman somewhat by leaping from the scaffold to hasten his death.

Fred, while I applaud your openness with your whistleblowing and protests, I welcome their right to privacy. If you were still looking for jobs, you may want to remain anonymous too, and alot of these guys do go to extremes and violate some internet laws doing what they do. I congratulate all that bring attention and awareness to stuff the main stream reality TV/news doesn't. It allows them to exist and IMO, they are doing MUCH MORE GOOD than bad!

Historical note - Guy Fawkes was involved in the November 5, 1605 "gunpowder plot" to blow up the Houses of Parlaiment in London. For his trouble, he was burned-at-the-stake, but the memory of his botched attempt is commemorated by Brits on November 5, a.k.a. "Guy Fawkes Day" by bonfires & Halloween-style merriment ... The "Guy Fawkes" mask thing was cribbed from the dystopian movie "V for Vendetta" which is beloved by some with "anarchist" leanings ... "Anarchy is better than no government at all!" ~ anonymous (small-L) saying from the 1980s ...

Wasn't "Batman" available? While I understand why the "Anonymous" folks do what they do - because some in the "mainstream" media avoid talking about controversial issues like the alleged rape in Steubenville - their unorthodox tactics only provide "talking-points" for paranoid rightwing reactionaries like the Stiff who don't realize that they are just as "extremist" as any of the so-called extremists on the left ... @Asknot - Paranoia IS a form of mental-dysfunction that affects leftys as well as righties! ... You folks may have noticed that I don't do ANYTHING anonymously! ...

Thank you Masked People for bringing the horrible rape thing in Steubenville to the light of day.
Many appreciate your efforts.
I hope justice is served in that area filled with what many have deemed corrupt.
I prayer for this current victim and any others who may have slipped beneath the carpet.
