of the business-community (who understand that the concepts of anarchy and nihilism are NOT good for business) are beginning to realize the threat. Since 1981, the wingnut crazies have been winning, losing, and winning again, but - after the financial debacle of 2008, election losses in 2008 and 2012, and now the silly up and down "fiscal cliff" or "sequester" charades, MOST Americans are beginning to realize that folks like John Boehner and Mitch McConnell have given the inmates the keys to the asylum ... More-or-less "sane" Republicans like Chris Christie, John Huntsman, Charlie Crist, and (yes) even John Kasich are positioning themselves to take back the Party of Lincoln ... Like the Huns, Vandals, Mongols, Nazis, Soviets, and McCarthyites, the current crop of nihilistic wingnuts are on the edge of a long drop into the dustbin of history ... I see the Stiff as being sort of like the crazy "Slim" Pickens character in "Dr. Strangelove"

The main goal of the current crop of Congressional "nihilists" is to dismantle everything from the 14th Amendment, the 1913 Internal Revenue Act, Labor laws, Social Security, the 1964 Civil Rights Act, the 1965 Voting Rights Act, Medicare, the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Medicaid, HUD, Head Start, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and (of course) the Affordable Care Act ... While these crazies yap a lot about how much they love The U.S. Constitution, there are parts of THAT document (i.e the Commerce Clause and Judicial Review) they would like to dismantle as well. Since at least FOUR wingnuts have become SCOTUS Justices, they are currently trying from within the Nation's Highest Court to dismantle 150 years of progress from within ... Fortunately, not only so-called "liberals" (who sometimes can be as clueless as their counterparts on the right), but even many REAL conservatives, progressives, Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and even members

down others on talk-shows, or labeling their opponents as "socialists", "commies", "fascists", or whatever, but they will squawk, squeal, fib, whine, and shout to their last gasp, because that's what nihilists do! If they can't win - and they can't because the tide of history is against them - they will attempt to bring the system down around them. Until recently, President Obama, as well as many others on the "progressive" side of history, have, until recently, dismissed nihilists like Rand Paul, Paul Ryan, Michele Bachmann, etc. as "harmless crazies". "Crazy" they might be, but (as the sequester and the upcoming fight over "shutting down" the government may prove) they are certainly NOT "harmless"!

center of any issue. If they can't win, or if they can't have their way on everything, they shout, whine, call-names, sulk, or run amok! ... If one manages to pin them down on any one issue - i.e. the effects of the current budget dilemma - they will change the subject or try to heap blame upon others ... After the Civil War, as most former Confederates accepted the reality of defeat, and tried to settle down or go on with their lives, a small handful refused to "surrender" and went on rampages against former foes and friends alike. All they wanted to do was destroy. We have seen similar actions throughtout history from fanatic Vandals, Huns, Vikings, Mongols, and various kinds of religious fanatics to conquer and control others ... The current wingnuts in Congress and those slithering around in Internet sites like this one are of the same breed. In reality they know that they have lost the battle to dominate others (via tricks like preventing others from voting or shouting

"nihilists" ... Nihilists reject the most common aspects of social and political life, and prefer destruction over creation. They are mainly pessimists who believe that humans are totally worthless and that doom is just around the corner. They are also extreme xenophobes who hate diversity and any persons or political systems they can't comprehend or control ... In Congress, these fanatics use language like "starve the beast" (by "beast" they mean the regular functions of government) or "drown the baby in the bathtub". They are fanatics who thrive on control over others, but their goal is to lead others over the cliff into they abyss where they feel most comfortable. They are also "the barbarians-at-the-gate" who (like most barbarians) hate art, science, education, literature (except for that by which they can spread their message of anarchy), or any form of compromise ... They also thrive on discord - hence their refusal to come to th

Thanks to Greek and the Stiff for demonstrating the sort of monomania that persists - not only on these comment forums, but in the halls of what used to be called "Congress". While most Americans, including both mainstream Democrats and Republicans, know that the silly posturing and perpetual "crisis" manipulation leads only to anarchy, a small segment of Americans (let's call them the "Griffs" to combine the combined qualities of fanatical silliness displayed here by two of the worst offenders) simply want to shut down everything they don't like or are incapable of understanding ... Their counterparts in Washington are not regular players like Nancy Pelosi, Lindsay Graham, Henry Levin, or even John McCain - they are crazies like Rand Paul, Louie Gohmert, Ted Cruze, Paul Ryan, Michele Bachmann, and Roy Blunt who are just loooovving the "sequester", because they are in the deepest parts of their teeny brains what can only be termed as "nihil

You try to blame the republicans but it is your own heros that are dropping the ball. Any one with a little sense can see that but you try to cloud issues with claims of racism, predjudice, being for the common guy when all your hero wants to do is campaign for the dems in 2014 already. What a waste!!

Hey Idiot oneill, your throwing rocks around to divert the blame from where it belongs aint workin. Boehner said they SENT 2 DRAFTS OF A COMPRIMISE TO THE SENATE AND THE WOULDNT GET OFF THEIR ARSES TO RESPOND. YOU LOOK IN THE MIRROR. Look at Harry Reid too. Your blundering, petty name calling aint gonna work no more. You get on this blog to get people to disagree with you so you will be a top rated user. So I quit disagreeing with you cause you are too much of a moron to make sense with your lies !!

Do the wingnuts ever read the headlines or the content of these articles, or do they just figure that these items ar irrelevant to the needs of these trolls to vent, whine, and call people "commies"? In comparison to the needs of the millions who might be hurt by this "sequester" SNAFU, the "needs" of these deluded trolls are what is irrelevant at the present time!

@Greek - If the Stiff is one of your "friends", you might want to take another look in that mirror! FYI (For Your Information) - This article is about the possible effects of the sequester on the nation and this community. It is NOT about your ego, nor that of the Stiff. I don't care if you are "quiet" or not, but I do care about your less-than-accurate hogwash derived solely from the "blame-the-victim" junk that you, Stiff, and three or four others crib from Limbaugh, Drudge, Beck, Savage, or old Ayn Rand potboilers about "takers" and "makers" and shovel out here daily in place of the truth! Whether it is "racist" or simply ignorant xenophobia is a matter between you and your concience!

EVERYTHING Workingstiff says is right on the money. Your mind is so full of garbage that you cannot see it, hence the F.I. You all think that calling some one racist intimidates them into submit to being quiet. Well, I know better my family and friends know better and I am not afraid of some mouse like you calling me racist. If my friends called me that, I would look in the mirror and feel bad.

FYI - This article isn't about Stiff's endless vendetta against the Black Panthers. It's supposed to be about the (now effective) "sequester" and its possible effect upon Americans ... Karl Rove once advised rightwing Republicans to change the subject when they can't handle facts ... I just found out - from an interview with the two women who made a new documentary, "A Place at the Table", that opens (ironically enough) today - that the average family on SNAP or WIC receives about $4-per-day for food ... That wouldn't even keep Stiffy supplied with Twinkies! Do they still make Twinkies?

A final point on the "sequester" ... Is is extremely ironic that, while the rightwing extemists in Congress are dumping on part-time workers, who often work at two or more jobs, and sometimes need benefits like WIC or SNAP to survive, these same Congressional flacks have themselves become "part-time" workers who receive cushy perks and high-wages for doing nothing! ... Congressman Johnson has some serious soul-searching to do in the near future. He can do the right thing by voting to stop the damage that will be caused by the sequester - a totally manufactured "crisis" that might hurt millions and throw the economy of the entire nation into the dumpster, OR he can continue supporting the partisan obstructions of his extremist tea-party colleagues in the House and join them later in the dumpster of history!

Constitution or out of love for their country - but to satisfy their own petty partisan concerns. Having picked up the crap they spout - not from Jefferson or Lincoln - but from Ayn Rand and rush Limbaugh, their sole concern is for others to have less, so that they and their small band of self-absorbed twits might have more ... If they have to wreck the entire nation to satisfy their greed and arrogance, so be it! ... Ya hear me Stiff? I'm talking about YOU!

In reality, the budget issue is not so much about "race" as it is about "class". The wingnuts on the right represent a shrinking group of misanthropes who are "alarmed" by increases in minority populations and the impact of these groups upon the last election. As Eugene Robinson said at M.C. last week, "diversity is not something to be feared" and that it will eventually be a healthy thing for the nation ... What is NOT healthy - as growing numbers of formerly middle-class people slide into poverty - are the xenophobic and regressive attitudes of those who hate, fear, and demonize, not only minorities, but poor and working-poor citizens in general. Some of these throwbacks have conned their way into Congress. Their goal is NOT to provide jobs and opportunities for all, but to scrap everything from the Voting Rights Act and Medicare in the 1960s to New Deal programs like Social Security ... They do these things - not out of respect for The Cons
