Honestly saying, I think it was done the correct why as well. Why would you take the risk of the guy hurting his back even more, so the county would have to pay the doctors bill or even legal bills. Who is to say he wouldn't sue the county for negligence? Randy did the correct action needed to save the tax payers money down the road.

Tessie, sadly the public will be paying for his "bad back" whether he is in jail or not. So he may as well be in jail doing his time. He can rest his back in jail just as easily as out of jail.

Let the guy heal up on his own dime instead of being locked up and getting free care on the publics dime.

@Tessie... I agree completely! Let him rack up his own medical bills... Which I'm sure we will end up paying in the long run through some government funded program but at least the county won't be libel or at risk of being sued!

@Tessie: Why so condescending today? People get angry at pervs like this taking advantage of the system. I think it is healthy to let off with a little anger. You certainly post your feelings, why not everyone else?

For all of you who think it's a good idea to have this guy do his time now, rethink it.

He has a bad back that is likely to need surgery. Let's say he goes to jail before surgery and his back is further injured. The jail/county/we are on the hook for the costs his surgery, medications, and treatments.

If he needs surgery then let it happen before he enters jail. That way when he gets out, there's no excuse for not getting a job so he can pay his fines. If he doesn't require surgery right away, then he's medically cleared and cannot come back and sue the jail/us.

Thank you Mr. Brockwell & Mr. Burnworth for seeing the big picture and protecting the taxpayers responsibility. Much better than the reactionary prosecutor and most of the people who post here.

Am I or they do-gooder(s)? No. We are realists who see the big picture and recognize a scammer when we see one. The attorney and judge are being proactive, which is a new concept for many of you.

Maybe he should have asked the victim when would be a convenient time to be burglarized....

I think this guy is such the scammer. I hope he does his time soon. I noticed that in his apologies at the end of the article he did not even mention the person whose house he broke into. This guy is gonna be in and out of the system for years.

Wanna bet he's gonna get disability for his bad back? Why rob houses and get a couple bucks and risk jail when you can find a stooge doctor who will sign you up for disability, supported and expanded by Obama, and you can sit on yer asp at home and collect checks every month. Don't forget to vote democrat to keep those entitlements coming!

Doesn't appear to be lying on his back in this photo! Bet he did break into homes while on his back. This is BS....put him in jail and let him stay flat in his cell. A stiff mattress will do him good. Bad call Randy.

What a sad state we are in when we let the whiny criminals decide if they are going to jail. So what if he is uncomfortable. I suppose the "do-gooders" out there agree with the criminal.

Here is the example of legal stupidity. Put him in jail and forget about him. Criminals should never be given the choice of when they go to jail. It's bad enough all the fake bad back disabilities being paid out there, now a criminal can claim a bad back to stay out of jail. Lock him up an throw away the key before he commits another crime.

This is crazy!! Lock him up!! He probably had the same "back troubles" when he was robbing people. I'm sure there are lots of criminals with medical problems. Should they all be in charge of when they will serve their jail time?
